Protect AI built security tooling for machine-learning systems — scanning models for malicious payloads, tracking what goes into an ML supply chain — and was acquired by Palo Alto Networks, where it now appears as Prisma AIRS. The problem it addressed is real and under-served: a downloaded model file is executable content and very few teams treat it that way. The consequence of the acquisition is the usual one, that an accessible security tool has become a line item in an enterprise platform, priced and sold accordingly.
